Neil Westfall @NW44 from A Day To Remember shoots more photos than most photographers.

The last few days we hung out shooting photos and talking crap. This is him shooting a portrait of me while I shot one of him.. deep huh.

I found this man on a busy main street in Harajuku with a light meter in one hand and this what looked to be an old medium format camera..

His english was not too bad but when I asked him what type of camera it was he replied “hand” camera.. then it dawned on my that he had made this camera by hand! Opening his bag to show me 3 different hand made cameras he had put together.

1: Lens that had a light globe for a lens so it gave a distorted 360’ photo.

2: Lens that was like a pin hole cap but had a squigly line that would make wavey images.

3: A lens that was a cone, so the images where cone shaped.

I asked if I could take his picture and he was super excited for me to and was very proud to be showing off his hand made cameras to someone from Australia. After he asked if he could take mine on the street, I hope that i can find that photo one day as he said he will try to send me a copy to my “electronic post box”.
